Report: Football Vox Pops (Joe Clancy)
‘In this task, you are required to conduct a series of interviews as a part of a Vox Pop. You need to work within a small group and identify a topic that is currently in the news. Once you've selected an appropriate subject area and topic you have to prepare 5 questions. These 5 questions will be used for your Vox Pops.
Once you've selected and agreed within your group upon the topic and prepared your questions you are required to interview at least 5 people. For these interviews you are required to use a video camera and a hand held dynamic microphone.’
Bilal, Idris, Sidique, Zek and I decided to form a group of 5 individuals with similar ideas. We decided to implement our thoughts onto a Word document and began to contemplate the 5 questions that we decided we were going to pursue with.
We felt that introducing the topic of Football was the idea we were going to revolve our 5 questions around purely based on the fact that all 5 of us had some sort of Football knowledge and this was something we could relate to. We set the target of thinking of the 5 questions, and after discussing as a group, we had decided that our 5 questions would be:
- Who are your favourites for the Champions League crown and why?
- Do you see an English team progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League?
- Do you think the Barclays Premier League title is Manchester United’s
to lose or do you see a late resurgent Manchester City fight back to retaining
their Premier League title?
- Who has been your Barclays Premier League Player of the Season and
why?
- Do you think England have a chance at the next World Cup in Brazil
2014?
As
a group, we were delighted with the questions we had thought of and we were
particularly pleased with how all the filming and recording went seeing as we
believe that each of us had given an in-depth answer. Looking back I personally
sense that all went well seeing as there were no minor interruptions while
filming and recording. I felt particularly pleased with the answered each of
had given and it was as if the answers were given to near expert standard.

Cut-Out Animation + Evaluation
Whilst introduced to the task, Sue had told us to get into groups. A group was then formed consisting of myself, Zek, Rifat, Bilal and Idris. We were then told to browse through a various selection of magazines to try and search for multiple cut-out possibilities that would be suitable for the creation of our cut-out animation. We decided to cut out the head of Queen Elizabeth then implement cut-outs that would make the animation less formal and more humorous. Then we decided to use a cartoon body holding the American flag. We thought that adding the cartoon body with the American flag would add that bit of contrast that would make the cut-out animation as a whole more interesting. We thought that the use of the sunglasses shooting out of the camera would be the creative aspect of the cut-out animation. Personally, I thought the project as a whole was successful because of the ideas that we had to incorporate into the animation. At first, it was a bit of a struggle to think of any ideas at all, but once we found the right images, we thought that our task would become greatly simplistic in our effort to strive for a idea that we thought we could make the most out it.

Edward Muybridge
Born on the 9th April 1830, Edward Muybridge was an important English photographer who was renowned for his work in motion and motion picture productions. In the 1880s, Muybridge entered a very productive period at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, producing over 100,000 images of animals and humans in motion, capturing what the human eye could not distinguish as separate movements. He spent much of his later years giving public lectures and demonstrations of his photography and early motion picture sequences. He also edited and published compilations of his work, which greatly influenced visual artists and the developing fields of scientific and industrial photography.
