My name is Omid Kaya and i'm a student at City of Westminster College and i'm here studying Level 3 Creative Media.

• I'm 17.
• I was born in Chelsea & Westminster Hospital on the 25th of August 1995.
• I'm of Turkish/Iranian decent
• I live in London, Shepherds Bush. I have lived there all my life.
• I don't have any siblings.
• I live with my mother.
• I'm a big music fan.
• Sometimes in my spare time, i like to edit some music to make them better.
• I'm a big Arsenal fan and of Football in general. I look forward to Premier League and Champions League games.

Hobbies and Interests:

• I enjoy playing video games on Playstation 3 like every other teenager.
• I particularly enjoy playing FIFA 13 because its fun and its great playing online with your friends.
• I also play Call of Duty but i'm not the best at it.
• I like going Westway on Latimer Road and playing Football with some of my friends and family there. I'm a big guy but believe me I can play.
• In my spare time I enjoy going on the computer and mainly on Youtube because I spend the majority of the spare time I have on the computer to go on Youtube.
• In my spare time I also enjoy editing music as I already said. I like to edit some of Lil' Wayne's tracks to make them a bit better.
• I like to watch videos on Youtube such as some of Vsauce's videos because they're very informative. I also like to watch some FIFA videos on Youtube from channels such as KSIolajidebt, AA9skillz, MGH.
• I look forward to Premier League and Champions League games.

Bin Tutorial

If you want to keep your work organised, making a 'Bin' helps so that you don't lose your work and makes it quicker to find. You wont be able to store some of your work onto a USB therefore making it useful and less of a hassle.

Be sure to rename your bin so that if you make more than one, you wont get the bins itself confused with others. You will be able to store your work in this folder so that you won't lose it, therefore making your project easier and less stressful.

Scratch Disk Tutorial

Open up Final Cut Pro and select 'System Settings'

Then select 'set' and choose a folder to save your work in.






Then for 'Waveform Cache', 'Thumbnail Cache' and 'Autosave Vault', select 'Set' for each of them and choose your file for each.

Evaluation for 'Fight Over Voucher'

At the beginning of the lesson we were assigned the task to complete a word search consisting of various different methods and techniques. After completing that task which was intended to help us gain a better understanding of shooting techniques, our group was then told to get cameras and begin filming or short film. We as a group (myself, Anton and Kameron) then decided to come up with a completely new scenario compared to the scenario we had thought of last lesson, but because Shantelle wasn't in class, we knew that we couldn't go ahead with our original scenario without her, so me Anton and Kameron had to think of an entirely new scenario which was time efficient and not complicated. 

Our scenario consisted of two men, one walking upstairs (Kameron) and one walking downstairs (myself) and the person walking upstairs (Kameron)  finds 4 vouchers for McDonald's on the floor. The two start arguing and I say that it was mine and that I had lost it. Then Kameron argues that he found it first. I then try and grab him but Kameron then dodges and tries to run away but as Kameron begins to run he trips on the first step of the staircase and falls to the ground on the staircase in slow-motion. Then as he lyes there on the staircase, I snatch the vouchers and walk out.

Whilst filming, we knew that we had to included as many shots as possible but the ones we decided to use were OTS shot, POV, close-up of vouchers, reaction shots and cross shots.

How can editing build tension and pace?

Editing can build tension and pace by making the shots shorter and more frequent.

What is crosscutting?

Crosscutting is when 2 shots switch one after the other

What are reaction shots?

Reaction shots are shots that capture the facial reactions and emotions of actors when displaying a medium shot or close-up of their face.

What is seamless editing?

Seamless editing is when the the audience does not notice the work of the editor, such as being drawn in to what the film is implying and not what the film is actually showing us on screen.

What is a jump cut?

A jump cut is a deliberate joke. Its also a way for the filmmaker to let the audience in on the filmmaking process. To expose rather than hide the edit.

What is a flash back and what does it achieve?

Flashbacks take the audience from one point in time to another. There often used to show whats known as a backstory, a key moment the persons life which explains how they got to where they are now.

How can editing be used poetically?

By using 2 shots and poetically connecting them so that it doesn't tell us everything, instead it makes us the viewer work harder than we're used to.

The Glooming

What is elliptical editing?

It allows it to fill in the gaps and keeps the story going.

Why are longs shots used?

To give the shot more effect and it makes it feel as if she is alone.

What is 'non-diagetic' sound?

Sound whose source is neither visible on screen nor has been implied to be present in the actions of the narrator's commentary and sounds whites are added for dramatic effect.

How do we know she is bending down to pick up the ring? (What shots are used and why?)

The camera is focused on the ring and everything around the ring is out of focus, therefore we know what she is looking at. Medium shot of face then the camera focused on a close-up of the ring.

Hustle

Overhead establishing shot - what does this achieve?

It sets out the space of which the event takes place.

What is shot-reverse-shot?

By cutting back and forth between two men, we assume they're talking.

What is eye-line matching?

It makes us guess that they're looking at each other.

Why do we cut to the other members of the group?

So we can see their face and so that we can see their reactions.

What is a wipe?

To move the action to a different location and time.

What is the effect of using quick cuts?

It creates a fast rhythm and keeps the story moving.
