Costa Coffee Advertisement and Evaluation

How faithful was your finished advertisement to your original idea?

Our original idea that we intended on using was to advertise Coca-Cola because that was one of the first ideas we had thought of as a group once the group was formed. We felt that we were comfortable with the idea of using Coca-Cola as our product. After deciding our product, we then staged out what our advertisement through the storyboard to see how it would pan out. After plotting our idea onto our storyboard, Sue had announced that the completion of the advertisement would be in 1 week. We had decided as a group to discontinue the development of the idea due to the amount of lesson time left. We weren't faithful to our intended original idea because we thought that given the amount of lesson time remaining, we were unable to proceed with the development of the Coca-Cola advertisement.

How effective was your advert in communicating to the products chosen target audience?

We communicated with our audience of coffee consumers around the world aged between 17-40 by using repetition as part of the persuasive techniques we had learnt whilst being introduced to the project by Sue. We used the times at the bottom of the screen as an indication of how nice the coffee is and that was the type of approach we intended on illustrating. The slogan itself is a direct message to our target audience of 17-40 year olds who consume coffee around the globe in which Costa Coffee shops are stationed.

What technical and aesthetic qualities are you most proud of within the advertisement?

The technical and aesthetic qualities that i'm most proud of was the general idea of the advertisement which was including the persuasive technique of repetition through the date and times of which they visit Costa Coffee. This in itself illustrates the great tasting coffee of Costa Coffee. One of the aspects our advertisement that i felt was disappointing was that we didn't include enough of the 5 shot rule which we had learnt earlier in the year. I felt that this would have contributed to the technical qualities if  I had implemented. I plan to correct this by adding more shots in order to make the commercial appear more professional and to boost my grade.

Compare your advert to a professional TV advertisement, how does your compare?

The differences between our advertisement and a professionals is that a professional advert would include a various number of shots whereas our commercial included 3 shots which were close-up, medium shot and medium-long shot. A professional advertisement would incorporate many shots to make it look more attractive and appealing.
