In the first week, we were introduced to the course and we were assigned the target to create a fresh, new blog for ourselves. It was an introduction to the Video Profile project; Sue and Barrington had shown the class example videos set by previous students. We were also shown how to get to grips with Prezi, and whilst I was one of the 2nd year students, my task was to help others in the class who weren't experience with Prezi. After helping others with their Prezi's, i knew that i had stuck to my target by working independently on my own work and had also connected and worked well with some of the 1st year students.
In week 2, we were asked to plan for our Video Profiles and that was the target i had set myself for that week. We were also told to get accustomed with the video equipment that we were eventually going to use for filming our Video Profiles. It didn't take long for me to get used to the technical equipment such as the Cameras, Tripods, etc, because of my experience following the previous year. Knowing how to use the cameras and all the other pieces of eqiupment gave me the confidence that I would be able to get my work done faster and more efficiently, and it was all down to the vital experiences that i had taken on-board the previous year. I also begin to construct and plan my own script and shortlist after completing my Video Profile Prezi's. We were told to write and upload both, my script and shotlist onto my blog, I also embedded my Prezi onto my blog.
In week 3, I had already completed my script and had put it onto my blog, my shotlist was also completed. Making the script and shotlist made it easier to clarify and understand how I was going to structure my video. After completing the script and shotlist and posting it onto my blog, all that I was left with to do was to begin recording and filming my Video Profile. Sue put us into groups of 3 consisting of Ousama, Anton and myself, and we all had a good understanding between each other so we knew that we would all help each other to make each of our videos as good as it could possibly be. Our group had been sent out to find suitable locations that were quiet, had a good colourful background and didnt echo. We found our location, which was the 6th floor by the windows and then we were ready to record for next lesson. We got all the equipment from the technicians office and I began filming the speaking parts of my Video Profile. I didnt complete all the filming in 1 day but the next day, I got one of my friends to help me record the rest of my filming in Hyde Park and while on the way home. Knowing that the recording was completed, I was ready to begin editing my Video Profile the next day.
In week 4, my target was to learn how to edit and apply the skills that I learn into editing my Video Profile. Sue had shown the class how to edit, how to review footage, how to add music, how to add images and then showing us how to upload it onto our blogs. Presumably the 2nd year students already understood it and already had the experience on FinalCutPro, which for us made the task a much easier and manageable. I met my target of beginning to edit the intro of my Video Profile by working independently and in a manor which was time efficient. I completed editing the introduction of my Video in 1-2 days. The reason it took a bit longer than expected was because there was issues with the clips I had recorded because the audio of my clips seemed to be working but the actual footage didnt work, so I decided to reshoot my footage on a different camera, then upload the footage onto FinalCutPro. I was using all the skills that I had learned along the way throughout my time on this course, this year and the previous, by using my experience on FinalCutPro to use a template introduction to the introduction of my video. I had applied music, colouring effects, cross-fading and much more techniques to make my Video Profile better.
In week 5, I had completed editing my entire Video Profile but there still seems to be some small issues with the video. After I solved those issues, I was ready to upload my Video Profile onto Youtube and then onto my Blog on Tuesday of week 5, so that on the final day, I could complete all the written work such as the evaluation for my Video Profile and the Review Report that i'm currently writing.
Over the couse of the 5 weeks we had to complete this project, I felt that at times, particularly in the early weeks of the project, I felt abit fatigued and a bit lazy at times, but that is the weakness' that I overcame especially in week 3-5 where I actually stuck to the timetable I had set myself to become a better student, and I felt that I gave my all in the final weeks of the project. I knew that this induction course wasn't most difficult and I knew that there are more challenging obstacles to overcome but i'm up for the task, especially if I stick by my timetable that I had written in my Induction Logbook.
